Flu Prevention Precautions at Garrison Women's Health Center

Sep 30, 2009 | by Garrison Women's Health

During this upcoming Flu season, Garrison Women's Health Center's intention is to do everything we can to protect all our patients. Our Obstetric patients are at higher risk for complications than the general population.

Protecting You From the Flu

As this Flu season may be worse than usual due to the H1N1 strain, we, like other medical facilities, are putting procedures in place for your protection.

Any employee of Garrison with the flu or exposed to the flu will stay home from work until they have been fever free for 24 hours.  Following a return to work, the staff member will wear a mask for 7 days.

Pregnant and Have the Flu?

We ask our Obstetric patients to call us immediately if you have been exposed to the flu. Treatment is most effective in the first 48 hours after the onset of symptoms.

Please do not come in the office or keep an appointment if you have been exposed or are suffering from a fever more than 100 degrees, a sore throat, or cough. When you call, our providers will assess your situation and will prescribe the appropriate treatment.

Our Gyn patients should call their primary care provider for treatment options.

Thank you for your understanding.
